God Is A Black Man
I wrote this poem six years ago. People may get mad, but why can't I believe in and worship a God that I can identify with? I guess if I followed the line and give praises to old buttermilk boy who looks like he used some Clairol, then I'm cool because that makes you feel comfortable. However, I don't give a damn about what makes you comfortable. Anyone who condemns me for my belief can kiss my ass! And go to hell wearing a pair of gasoline drawz! So here's the piece, God Is A Black Man:
Yes I do believe that God is Black,
Why do you have a problem with that?
I can't have a God to identify with?
A God Who's Black; the Giver of gifts?
If I worshipped a God, buttermilk and white,
Then in your sight, it would be alright
Other cultures have Gods that looks like them,
But a Black God, you refute and condemn
You can't stand a God that looks like me,
But you'requick to persecute and strike me
Jesus was a Black man, you can't deny-it,
That buttermilk Jesus, this brother don't buy-it.
In the name of Jesus, your evil you flung,
We hear the word nigger rollin' off your tongue.
You sit in a rage, poised for an attack,
Just because I believe in a God that'sBlack.
